The illustrious Aqua Tower newly honored as the world’s most outstanding new skyscraper based on its unique architectural design and functionality is also among the 10 tallest buildings completed in 2009 worldwide.
According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, which compiles the list, Aqua’s 858-foot height ranked #5 and is one of three sky-high buildings added to the U.S. skyline in 2009 named among the top 5 on the list.
Topping the list is Chicago’s own 98-story Trump Tower, whose 1,389-foot stature also makes it the seventh tallest building in the world. The Bank of America Building in New York City (1,198 feet) was second on the list.
Following that pair on the Tallest Buildings list, in order, are:
3. China World Trade Center III, Beijing (1,083 ft.)
4. Arraya Center Office Tower, Kuwait City (984)
5. Aqua (858)
6. Al Fardan Residences, Doha (830)
7. Shanghai IFC South Tower, Shanghai (820)
8. RunHua International Building, Wuxi (814)
9. Hongdu International Plaza, Wuxi (814)
10. Xinjiekou Department Store, Phase 2, Nanjing (787)
Any way you look at it, the United States is still standing tall among the world leaders.

Lakeshore East developer Magellan Development Group that has been ranked among the nation’s top 100 real estate companies and homebuilders is included among a list of Chicago’s Largest Privately-Held Companies as ranked by Crain’s Chicago Business.
The firm, co-chaired by Joel M. Carlins and James R. Loewenberg, held the Number 83 position based on 2008 dollar volume of $399 million.
Magellan has previously been listed in the Forum 100, a ranking of the real estate industry’s top 100 real estate companies nationwide by Real Estate Forum magazine and one of the nation’s largest (#59) homebuilders by Professional Builder magazine.

Progress continues on-schedule for Aqua’s closing schedule and construction progress. Notice of closing has been mailed to purchasers through floor 72 at this time. The city should be out next week to inspect floors 72 through 75 for occupancy.
