  • Chicago Magazine: Aqua Included in Top 40 Building List

    The irresistible and internationally-acclaimed Aqua tower at Lakeshore East has been included on a list of the Top 40 Buildings in Chicago (still standing) published in the October issue of Chicago magazine. Ranked #22 on the list, it also ranks favorably in the neighborhood, just one step behind the Tribune Tower (#21) and one step ahead of the Wrigley Building (#23).

  • Lakeshore East Shuttle Off Duty This Week!

    picresized_th_1203501783_img_02291.JPGPlease note that the Lakeshore East Shuttle will be off Duty on Thursday, 9/30 and Friday, 10/1. The shuttle will not be making its morning shuttle runs from Lakeshore East to Michigan/Randolph. The shuttle will resume service on Sunday, October 3rd.

  • Magellan’s Festival One to Remember!

    The weather was perfect and the give-aways and special offers were amazing at this year’s Magellan Rewards Festival in the Park.  Hundreds of Lakeshore East residents visited over 60 vendors in the Park on Saturday from 11- 2 p.m.  Thanks to all who participated for another great Magellan event at Lakeshore East!  All  Raffle winners will be notified this week by Vanessa Casciano, Community Relations Director. 

    Blog Poll!  What was your favorite food sample at the festival?  Comment via this blog and Magellan will post all comments.   With so many restaurants participating this year, we’d like to get your opinion.  Was it Park Grille and their cool jalepeno mojito or The Palm with their delectable crab cakes?   Did anyone try Limelight’s apple bar or the Rhapsody’s soup?  Mmmmm!

    Departs Aqua: 10, 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am
    Departs Dominick’s: 10:35am, 11:05am, 11:35am and 12:15pm

    Dominick’s is located at Columbus and Grand.

  • The Architect’s Newspaper Highlights Magellan for Making Contributions to Downtown’s Design

    The Architect’s Newspaper recently profiled three Chicago development firms that are making a difference in the downtown real estate market by placing an emphasis on their buildings’ design. We’re proud to announce that Magellan Development was included in the group and that the media outlet called Magellan “one of the most innovative and design-minded [firms] in Chicago.”

    Magellan’s Aqua has certainly changed the downtown Chicago skyline—lead architect Jeanne Gang gave Magellan a gift when she created the undulating balconies that have garnered so much praise and press for the building. The Architect’s Newspaper highlights that Lakeshore East has many design-forward buildings representing a variety of different architectural styles and firms: “Based on a masterplan by SOM and built around a park designed by the Office of James Burnett with Site Design Group, the project includes buildings designed by DeStefano + Partners, Solomon Cordwell Buenz, Steinberg Architects, and Studio Gang, all within walking distance of the Loop and the lakefront.”

    Our Co-CEO and an architect by trade, James Loewenberg, offered his take on the outstanding design of Aqua and the entire Lakeshore East development. “Aqua is a one-of-a-kind building, and it’s definitely got a lot of cachet in the architecture community. From the beginning, we wanted buildings by different architects with different points of view. We think variety is a really good thing, as long as we maintain high quality.”
