  • Endless Summer at Lakeshore East

    Posted by admin | August 16, 2011 | No Comments » |

Movie in the Park at Lakeshore East

Summers in Chicago have always tilted to the east with the lure of the lakefront, the harbors, city beaches and such popular attractions as Navy Pier, the Museum Park and Chicago’s newest international attraction, Millennium Park.

But summers in Chicago have never been as exciting or convenient as they are owners of Chicago Condos at Lakeshore East, whose extraordinary location rivals its award-winning architecture and outstanding quality.

Lakeshore East has been classified as The Most Walkable Place in the City.  A recently created website, WalkScore.com, identifies how walkable a neighborhood is based on proximity to stores, work, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, museums, theater or public transportation or all of these.  Thanks to its easy accessibility to Chicago’s countless commercial, cultural and entertainment attractions, Lakeshore East achieved a 91% walkability rating, whereas the average walk score for all residential neighborhoods in Chicago was only 78%.

Let’s add to the list the proximity to Lake Michigan and its walking/bicycle paths about one block east.

And if the goal surpasses walkability, residents have also discovered that Lakeshore East also provides exceptional accessibility to public transportation by way of Chicago’s bus and elevated transit systems as well as even riverboat access from commuter railroad stations.  And Lakeshore East now provides a new eastern terminus to Chicago’s Pedway system that begins at City Hall and provides underground access to numerous attractions and conveniences of downtown Chicago.

And for those who just want to hang out, this blossoming neighborhood also offers residents and visitors extraordinary privacy for a major urban center in its award-winning Lakeshore East Park

Though it may be out-muscled by its across-the-street-neighbor Millennium Park, the multi-functional park that is visual anchor of Lakeshore East brings a soothing touch of country living to the community.  From its bountiful six-acre central meadow/playground to its numerous, intimate seating areas, the park provides a combination of comfort and exciting sensory experiences that are both relaxing and energizing.

  • Lakeshore East Community Event Line-Up

Magellan Rewards Event in the Park

Aside from its internationally recognized architecture, outstanding quality and incomparable location, what separates Lakeshore East from most communities is its extraordinary community relations program.

Thanks in no small part to creating a unique position – a community relations director – Magellan Development Group again demonstrated its desire and ability to create and invigorate a community and not just develop buildings.

Filling that post with vision and vigor as liaison to the community and its “Director of Fun” since the post was established in 2007 is Vanessa Casciano, who was previously campaign director for the Illinois Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and its Woman of the Year in 2005.

“Our aim in creating this position was to build and foster positive relationships, promote local awareness and build a positive cultural climate in our blossoming new community,” recalls Magellan president David Carlins.

It would take an eternity to list all that Vanessa has accomplished in a little over four years in each category, so a review of what our community relations director has achieved and still has on tap for 2011 puts it into perspective:

    • Organized a complimentary cocktail receptions attended by more than 100 residents at popular venues Public House and Market Roof Top.
    • Arranged community meetings by Magellan and Ald. Brendan Reilly’s office to announce the new Coast residential tower now under construction.  Arranged a complimentary open house introducing more than 150 residents to the nearby Columbia Yacht Club.
    •  Set up a special Music on the Plaza event at nearby Park Grill that provided 75 residents with VIP space, free food and drink specials.
    • Coordinated monthly Movies in the Park, open to residents of Lakeshore East as well as the public, with such hits as When Harry Meet Sally, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Dark Night.
    •   Runs the ongoing Lakeshore East Book Club that meets on the second Wednesday of every month.
    • Organized an open house in the sales gallery to introduce residents to officials of the CHALK Preschool for youngsters aged two to five that begins this summer on the ground floor of The Tides luxury apartment tower.

Still on the horizon is the fifth annual Festival in the Park at Lakeshore East scheduled for Saturday, October 15th.  The popular Expo-style Festival was created to introduce residents to participants in the unique Magellan Rewards program.

Magellan Rewards cards provide members with access to the best Chicago has to offer, from entertainment, health & fitness, in-home services, private promotions and special events.  New and exciting offers are continuously added to the program online including Daily Deals.
