As an expression of that commitment, Magellan Development Group and its employees champion a host of local, regional and national professional, philanthropic and civic organizations.
Magellan Development Group is proud to host the annual Magellan Development Spring Half Marathon, 10K and Junior Dash in the park at Lakeshore East. Magellan partners with CAPRI Events, one of Chicago’s premier race and event managers, to put together an amazing race experience! The first year event attracted more than 2,500 participants and their families.
The Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute (NBTI) is the official charity of the race on May 16, 2010! Individuals and companies looking to support NBTI can do so in many ways including monetary donations in addition to your race sign up fee, by creating or joining a fundraising team, or through VIP Event Donor Packages.

The Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute (NBTI) is a leader in the fight against brain and spinal tumors when it comes to clinical trial and treatment options. Our ability to call upon the world class resources of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer of Northwestern University – a National Cancer Institute (NCI) – designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the research and expertise of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago allows the NBTI to provide patients with the best possible care.

Magellan Development Group, Loewenberg Architects and McHugh Construction partnered to create a permanent home for the offices of the Chicago Youth Programs, which up until that point had been housed in a variety of office buildings. Inspired by the new office, Magellan’s commitment to CYP continued with additional fundraising efforts. The President of Magellan completed the 2004 Ironman competition and raised over $90,000 for Chicago Youth Programs.
The CYP has more than 525 volunteers and provides a combination of comprehensive, efficient and proven-effective services in such areas as health, education, recreation and career assistance. These efforts mainly are aimed at high-risk children in areas such as Cabrini Green, Washington Park and Uptown.
With the support of CYP’s work, 84% of high school graduates involved in their programs go on to college, teen birth rates among program participants are at least 50% below the citywide rate, and fewer than 14% of program participants have a single, documented delinquent event.
The Ogden School Mentor Program is designed to help graduating 8th grade students from Ogden School experience the professions they are interested in pursuing. Students spend the day with a local business volunteer learning about and experiencing a typical day in that professional field. Held annually, the program offers business choices ranging from dentists and bankers to designers and local politicians. On an ongoing basis, Magellan seeks to increase their list of business sponsors in order to help the children more effectively in their career search.
Magellan also has established The Ogden Scholarship Program. Each year, this program awards three eligible Ogden students. Magellan awards selected 8th grade graduates a $7,500 scholarship. The money is given to each student to be used later for college expenses. Eligibility is based on financial need and academic accomplishments. The scholarship winners are required to maintain a minimum grade point average throughout high school and contribute a minimum number of hours to community service activities.
In addition to founding the scholarship program, Magellan also periodically provides funding for school improvements or equipment. Ogden is a community school with a worldly spirit, and Magellan works to expand their world.
