Heralded for an employee-friendly and relaxed work atmosphere, Magellan takes employee perks to the next level by offering an incentive based Fitness Challenge. Started by David Carlins, Magellan’s President, the Magellan Employee Fitness challenge is now in its third year and has boasted 100% participation each year. Magellan employees are encouraged to choose a fitness event to participate in, workout with another employee in the company, complete a commitment form outlining training schedules, and complete their fitness event. Once each individual’s event is completed according to goals set, he or she receives a bonus from Magellan. Additional bonuses are accrued based on the percentage participation by employees as a whole.
Lots of support is given to employees through their fitness journey including free goody bags containing water bottles, discounts to area retailers, and “Team Magellan” dry-fit shirts. In addition, Magellan hosts fitness classes during the workweek such as yoga, biking workshops, running clinics and nutrition seminars. These classes and events are free to employees.
From running races to stair climbs to triathlons and Ironman competitions, Magellan employee fitness event participation is widespread throughout Chicagoland and beyond.
