James Loewenberg,
Co-Chief Executive Officer

A developer, architect, property manager, marketer and licensed broker, James Loewenberg has diverse real estate industry experience. He has lead the development and design of many of Chicago's most successful residential and mixed of Loewenberg Architects, a Chicago-based architecture firm founded in 1919. During his career, Loewenberg has directed the development and design of more than 30,000 residential units and 3,500 single-family homes.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1957, Loewenberg first established himself in the Chicago real estate industry by developing and designing a host of high-rise apartment buildings along Lake Shore Drive and master-planned suburban residential communities. Since the 1980's, he has designed and developed multi-use residential towers like Ontario Place (1980), One East Delaware Place (1989) One Superior Place (2001), The Park Millennium (2002), Grand Plaza (2003) and State Place (2005) The Lancaster at Lakeshore East (2005), The Shoreham at Lakeshore East (2005) and the six- acre public Park at Lakeshore East (2005).

Loewenberg, with his partner Joel Carlins, is creating an entire urban neighborhood with his latest project - 28-acre Lakeshore East. As developer of the largest parcel of downtown land under development in any major U.S. city, Loewenberg has been instrumental in this mixed-use project since its conception - from financing, design, master planning and marketing to garnering community and civic support. Located where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan, the $4 billion development will include 4,950 residences, 2.2 million gross square feet of commercial space, 1,500 hotel rooms, a six acre public park and an elementary school. The first elements of the master plan have already reached its completion boasting record sales and leasing numbers.

Recognized in such diverse areas as industry leadership, training and development practices, Loewenberg has been actively involved in many professional organizations as well as charitable community service. Awards have included the prestigious Institute of Real Estate Management 2005 Leadership Award, National Apartment Association 2004 Paragon Award, Chicagoland Apartment Association 2004 Property Excellence Award and the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association 2003 Development of the Year Award. Loewenberg is a regular participant and speaker in conferences such as The Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Chicagoland Apartment Association (CAA).
