Lakeshore East’s Pet Friendly Lifestyle

Posted by admin | July 6, 2010 | No Comments » |

If you read this Chicago Tribune article, you’ve noticed that our Chicago condos for sale are pet friendly. But Lakeshore East’s pet friendly lifestyle is so much more than just letting you keep pets in our buildings– our whole development has amenities for your furry friends! So while you’re living the luxury lifestyle at a Lakeshore East development, don’t forget that your pet can, too.

Outdoor Spaces at Lakeshore East

Obviously if you have an active pet like a dog, access to outdoor space is a huge plus. You may have realized that it isn’t easy to come by in an urban development. If you are adjacent to a park, it may not be a leash-free or dog-friendly park. And your building, if they do allow dogs, might not embrace the pet population. Well, that’s definitely not the case at Lakeshore East!

Obviously, there’s our 6-acre Park at Lakeshore East that covers 40% of the entire master-planned community. While the whole park isn’t designated as a dog park, it is a perfect place to run and exercise with your dog with miles of paths to take advantage of.

Plus, there is an area within the Park specifically for dogs, and it’s designed to be equally convenient for our four-legged friends and their owners. The fenced-off dog park has clear vantage points for owners so that they can observe their pups at play. Dogs can splash in the water features throughout the dog park during hot Chicago days. In addition to those special water features, which also provide cool drinking water for canines, the topography of the dog area is varied for the pets’ interest.

And don’t forget that the Lakeshore community sits right where the Lake and River meet. This puts you within proximity of the 18-mile path that runs along the coast of the city– that’s plenty of room for any dog to play! And if you have a swimming dog on your hands, a quick trip to beach can get your dog into the water fast.

A Pet Loving Community

Like the Tribune mentions, our amenities aren’t just for dogs and they aren’t limited to dog runs and pet allowances. We have recommendations for the best veterinarians and groomers in the city, so when you need support for your pet, we can help you get it. Likewise, we keep a list of the best pet-sitters in the city to help you care for your pet if you need to travel. Many of our residents volunteer to look after pets in the development– we keep a list so you can find someone in your building to help you look after your animal friend.

Some Important Info for Our Pet Owners

Pet owners in any of our Lakeshore East buildings should know the following:

  • All owners must obtain permits and registration tags for all dogs.
  • Dog owners using the Park must adhere to the laws of Cook County, since it is a part of the City of Chicago parks system.

People bringing dogs to Dog Friendly Areas (DFAs) of the park should have with them:

  • A permit for the current season for each dog
  • A current Cook County Rabies Tag
  • A registration tag for the current season (Jan. 1 – Dec. 31)

For more information about registering your dog, read more here about dog licenses or contact us!

When you live in a development designed to support a pet-friendly community, you and your pets will notice the difference! At the buildings at Lakeshore East, you won’t have a problem with condo associations deciding to change pet ownership rules, and you will always have great access to urban open spaces to satisfy your pet’s play needs. Magellan Development is proud to help build pet-friendly communities, not just buildings that allow animals!
