Larry Schaffel, Magellan public relations director, brings to his post decades of corporate and agency public relations experience specializing in real estate PR. Prior to joining Magellan he was CEO/owner of his own firm, having acquired the former Bernard Ury Associates, the first PR agency in Chicago specializing in real estate public relations where he practiced for 25 years

Mr. Schaffel was a reporter with the Chicago Bureau of the Associated Press and the Chicago Sun-Times before joining the public relations staff of Ekco Products Co. where he became public relations director and later worked at several PR firms.

He was an accredited member and a vice president and director of the Chicago Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and a member of its Counselor’s Academy, an 8-year board member and president of the Skokie, Ill. Elementary School District 68 Board of Education, public relations chairman for the Chicago Building Congress and a director the Central Michigan Avenue Business Assn., Mr. Schaffel has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL.
