Artist in Residence Program

A Home Where Art and Music Thrive

Since 2017, Magellan Development Group has proudly hosted an innovative Artist-in-Residence program, where creativity meets community. As part of our ongoing commitment to enriching the living experience, as well as supporting local artists from musicians and muralist we can offer exclusive events and experiences to both the artist and our residents.

Where Creativity Lives

As participants in our residency programs, resident artists and wellness professionals live within our communities while sharing their talents and expertise with residents. From intimate live performances and hands-on art classes to complimentary fitness programming and wellness events, they help make our properties more than just places to live—they are places to connect, create, and thrive.

“We have always been a major advocate of the arts so we couldn’t be more thrilled to launch this never-before-seen program,” said David Carlins, President of Magellan Development Group. “Our brand promise is to invest in our communities in impactful ways to enrich the lives of our residents. We feel strongly that our residency programs do exactly that.”
Currently, we have four extraordinary resident artists and wellness professionals:

Trevor Tisdale, the Chicago Magellan Musician, is a self-taught musician who found his voice harmonizing with the bands and artists that filled his childhood home. You can hear the influence of Funk, Soul, Pop, Blues, and Rock ‘n’ Roll in all of Trevor’s live performances. Trevor’s skill on guitar has evolved into a dynamic extension of his voice, and he continues to hone advanced performance techniques while writing and recording original music.

Katrina Cain, our Austin-based Sienna Star, is an acclaimed singer-songwriter whose music has been described as Americana, country, and pop. She is widely recognized for her standout performances on Season 15 of NBC’s The Voice, including her haunting rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon.” In addition to performing original music, Katrina’s Songs I Wish I’d Written series celebrates some of the most beloved songs and songwriters of the past five decades. Based in Austin, she performs throughout Texas and beyond while serving as the resident musician at Sienna at the Thompson.

Al Cairns, Sienna at the Thompson’s Wellness in Residence professional, brings energy, expertise, and inspiration to the community through fitness and wellness programming. As a respected trainer and fitness influencer, Al leads 4–6 complimentary resident fitness classes each month, ranging from strength and interval training to community wellness events. His mission is to help residents live healthier, more active lifestyles while creating meaningful opportunities for connection and engagement.

Asend blends street art with fine art to create bold, boundary-pushing works that transform spaces and spark conversation. Through vibrant murals, live painting sessions, and resident Sip & Paint experiences, his work brings color, creativity, and a unique sense of place to our communities throughout Chicago. His artistic impact also extends to Austin, where he created a striking public mural at Sienna at the Thompson designed to inspire connection, creativity, and Instagram-worthy moments for residents, hotel guests, and visitors alike.

Together, these artists and wellness leaders not only shape our physical spaces but also foster a dynamic culture of creativity, connection, and well-being.
