Magellan Development Group Hosts Kickoff Party for 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial

Event Held at Sales Gallery of the Monumental Vista Tower to Coincide with Biennial Theme “Make New History”

CHICAGO – September 7, 2017 – On Tuesday, September 5, Jack Guthman, Chicago Architecture Biennial Board Chair, and Robin Tebbe, Chief Marketing Officer, Magellan Development Group, welcomed 150 Chicagoans to kick off the second Chicago Architecture Biennial at the Vista Sales Gallery. Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and Sharon Johnston, Co-Artistic Director of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, gave remarks on the biennial, the largest architecture and design exhibition in North America.

This year’s biennial theme, “Make New History,” perfectly matched the event’s location: the Vista Sales Gallery. At completion, Vista Tower will forever change the Chicago skyline, becoming the city’s third tallest building.

“We were honored to welcome Mayor Emmanuel and guests to the Vista Sales Gallery for this special event,” said Robin Loewenberg Tebbe. “As longtime supporters of the local art and design community, we were happy to return as sponsors for this year’s biennial event as we continue to make strides on an architectural spectacle of our own, being Vista Tower.”

While meandering through the Vista Sales Gallery, guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres including bacon-wrapped dates, chicken parmesan bites and bang bang shrimp catered by Paramount Events as well as the musical stylings of DJ Brent Rolland of Fig Media. Guests also heard from renowned artist Nick Cave, SAIC: Fashion Design Department Chair, and Studio Design Director Claire Cahan of Studio Gang, the award-winning architecture firm behind Vista Tower.

Later in September, Nick Cave and Jeanne Gang will unite audiences at Navy Pier for a special performance. Wearing Cave’s iconic “soundsuits” and incorporating objects designed by Studio Gang, performers will delight audience members with a lively, interactive experience.
