David J. Carlins

David Carlins, CEO of Magellan Development Group, oversees the company’s Development, Capital and Construction efforts. A longtime veteran of the Chicago real estate community, David co-founded the company in 1996.  Under his watch, the company has developed more than $8 billion in real estate.  David is heavily involved in the financial structuring, design, entitlement, construction, marketing, and sales of Magellan’s projects across the country, and he sits on Magellan’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee.

David also leads the firm’s many philanthropic endeavors.  He was a founding member and is deeply involved in supporting Hire360, was a longtime board member for Chicago Youth Programs (CYP) and works closely with Refugee One. David holds a BS degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a JD from Loyola Law School. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is a licensed real estate broker.
