The Sobro announces Artist-in-Residence talent competition

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Magellan Development Group, builders of The SoBro, Nashville’s tallest rental apartment high-rise, today announced the city’s first artist-in-residence talent competition, SoBro Star. The winner of the competition will receive a yearlong, rent-free stay at The SoBro.

SoBro Star is a musical competition unlike any other in Nashville. This competition allows residents at The SoBro to hand-pick one local artist on the rise who will serve as both a live-in performer and in-house entertainment for events at the 32-story high-rise. By offering an artist-in-residence, The SoBro will provide a one-of-a-kind amenity to residents that incorporates the thrill of Music City.

“SoBro Star is the first artist-in-residence program in Nashville,” said Cory Owak, property manager at The SoBro. “The Nashville experience is integral to The SoBro experience, and we can’t wait for our residents to enjoy live music right in their own home.”

Contestants for SoBro Star should submit a one-minute or shorter video on The SoBro’s social media channels using the hashtag #SoBroStar by April 3. The SoBro team will review all the entries and narrow the group down to three to five artists for consideration. Those final contestants will then perform at the SoBro Star competition on Saturday, April 22. From there, the winner is in the hands of The SoBro residents, who will cast their votes for the artist of their choice. The finalist with the most votes will win. The ultimate SoBro Star will perform and/or provide instruction for the residents of The SoBro a minimum of 8 to 10 hours per week.

SoBro Star is Magellan Development Group’s first artist-in-residence initiative in Nashville and the second nationally, with the first in Chicago. The SoBro is a joint development venture by Chicago-based Magellan Development and Giarratana Nashville. For more information on SoBro Star and to review the contest rules, visit rentsobro.com.
