Theater, Broadway and Other Shows in Chicago

Broadway in Chicago

Take a quick look at the aptly named Broadway in Chicago website and you’ll find a huge range of shows offered at five different theaters. Are you in the mood for the ultimate, authentic Broadway experience? Check out their schedule to see when time-honored classics like “Annie” or “Les Miserables” are available.

For more modern fare, you can’t go wrong with amazing productions like “Aladdin” or “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”. There are also numerous special offers for certain performances, including half price off the variety show “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”.

For something more unusual, check out “The Illusionists – Live From Broadway”. This production is a full showcase of the belief-defying abilities of seven of the world’s best illusionists. It runs for five days only (Feb 21 – 27th, 2017) so be sure to make your reservations early.

Family-Friendly Shows

The Albert Goodman Theater is offering “A Christmas Carol” until December 31st. The extremely popular “Blue Man Group” can be seen at different times throughout the year at the Briar Street Theater. Kids will also love the upcoming production of “Disney on Ice: Follow Your Heart” (starting on January 25, 2017).

Plays

Chicago is also host to some of the most famous plays as well as innovative new productions by lesser-known playwrights.

Celebrate the holiday season with your family by watching the fascinating “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”. This Tony Award winning play follows the unique triumphs and challenges of a man with Asperger’s Syndrome investigating a strange crime.

Later on in new year, be sure to check out “Gloria”. This dark comedy follows a group of hilariously over-competitive and under-qualified editorial assistants, all trying to get their byline on a breaking story and leverage that into an escape from their underpaid purgatory.
